Abstract
The ES like cell lines were established from morale and blastocyst stage bovine embryos fertilized in vitro. The cell could be maintained in the undifferentiated state when grown on moose fibroblast feed layers. In four of ES cell lines, BM-1, BM-2, BBI-1 and BBI-2, were analyzed. The cell lines are karyotypically normal with 60 chromosomes. They spontaneously differentiated into embryoid bodies on suspension culture, and endoderm-like, muscular-like, neuron-like cells, lipid vesicle and stained positive for alkaline phosphatase activity. Research will continue in order to determine the full potency of embryonic pluripotent cell lines derived from fertilized bovine embryos in vitro.
